Our latest premium upgrade for the DirectStream MK2 DAC features a new analog AC power transformer and doubling the capacity of the original power transformer for the digital board. That's 50 watts for each the analog board and the digital board. Each gets it's own power transformer. This upgrade creates a significant and unexpected improvement in audio quality. The sound is noticeably more lively, especially in the midrange and lower frequencies, with enhanced realism in the upper range. Strings, in particular, now come through with greater authority and clarity.
Our transformer upgrade provides superior both in sound and measurements for powering the analog board. This aligns with our findings from the MK1 Analog board power supply.
This upgrade along with our new R3 transformer upgrade takes this MK2 to a whole new level in sound quality.
